Brighten New Brighton

Brighton New Brighton

Hosted and organised by New Brighton Coastal Community Team

Saturday 23 April 2016

3.30pm – 10.00pm

Come and join us to celebrate the re-lighting of New Brighton’s historic Perch Rock Lighthouse with their special event Brighten New Brighton!

Funded through the Coastal Revival Fund, New Brighton Coastal Community Team has relit Perch Rock Lighthouse for the first time in over 40 years.

Its original lighting sequence, as it was when built in 1830, has been reinstated with a flashing beacon; two white and one red flashes of light each one second apart and repeating after a short pause.  Four down lights have also been installed underneath the walkway around its dome to light its structure.  The lighting is powered entirely by solar power.

We have a fantastic range of fun filled events and activities throughout the day including:  Fancy Dress and Competition, Story Telling, Postcard Art, Special film showing and a floating lantern festival in the evening.

At 3:30pm Wirral Samba Band will open the event at Marine Point with Samba from Rio as well as self-penned pieced including funk, hip hop and rhythms from all over Brazil.
